Waitress, 24, ‘sacked after telling boss she couldn’t afford new shoes’
A 24-year-old waitress on minimum wage was sacked after telling her boss she could not afford new shoes as part of her uniform.
Heidi Henders, 24, had already spent £30 on trousers and a shirt for her new job at dessert parlour in Stratford when she was told she needed more formal footwear than the black pumps she was wearing.
The student, who wasn’t given a contract when she started the job three weeks ago, claims she had been told in the interview that the uniform was simply black shoes.
But in a WhatsApp exchange seen by Metro.co.uk, management told staff that no trainers were allowed and failure to comply would result in a deduction of their wages.
