Sony’s discounts are said to last until near the end of November (pic: Sony)
If you’re thinking of getting a PS Plus subscription, one source advises waiting for Sony to announce a Black Friday discount.
Numerous retailers have already kicked off their Black Friday sales ahead of the day itself next week. You can find deals on video games at the likes of Currys, GAME, and Base so it’s only a matter of time until the major game companies announce their own discounts.
If you visit the PlayStation Store, you’ll see it has savings on hundreds of games for the month of November.
However, if a certain rumour is to be believed, Sony will also be offering discounts on PlayStation Plus subscriptions this week.
This would mark the first time Sony has made any such promotion on its subscription service since it revamped it earlier this year.
Apparently, all three tiers will be reduced by 25% and the deal can be taken advantage of even if you’re currently subscribed. The discount will apply to your new/renewed subscription once your current one ends.
This claim comes from billbil kun over at Dealabs, who has routinely and accurately leaked the monthly PS Plus line-up of free games.
They only share the reduced prices in euros but, knowing that they’ll go down by 25%, we can make some rough estimates of what the Black Friday prices will look like in the UK.
PS Plus Essential, the most basic tier, is normally £49.99 a year, so it’ll go down to roughly £37.49 a year.
PS Plus Extra, which includes access to a catalogue of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games, costs £83.99 a year, so it’ll go down to £62.99 a year.
PS Plus Premium, which lets you play retro games from the older PlayStation consoles, is the most expensive tier at £99.99 a year. With 25% off, it’ll become £74.99 a year.
The offer is said to go live in just a couple days on Friday, November 18 and will last for 10 days until November 28.

While Sony has yet to officially confirm any of this, Nintendo is teasing its own Black Friday discounts for its Nintendo Switch eShop.
It hasn’t announced any of the games that will be included, but the sale will go live tomorrow on Thursday, November 17. There’s no end date yet either, but it’ll presumably run until the end of the month.
