Do you need a relationship shake-up? (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
On July 23, Venus went into retrograde in Leo (until September 3) and 5 days later, on the July 28, Mercury moves into Virgo (until October 3) which means the remainder of summer is going to put a lot of relationships under the spotlight, in a good way.
We all get to a place of complacency eventually, of taking things for granted, of not actively working on and assessing and improving our close relationships – they’re just there.
Both of these transits will work together to bring you both the insight and the vocabulary to talk to your other half about what could work better or needs attention.
It’s time to review your relationship, so let the tarot give you a clue as to what you can work on…
Aries
March 21 to April 20
Happy people make better partners (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Aries: The Magician
Meaning: You’d like more magic, spontaneous activity, creativity, and passion. Whether it be either one of you, or both of you, pursuing your most heartfelt interests and being able to share that with the other.
Ideally, you’d align on a shared interest but, if not, then you can give attention and interest to the other person’s passion. Fill your time with stuff you both love doing and give each other space to do your own thing too. When you both feel fulfilled, you’ll feel even better together.

Taurus
April 21 to May 21
What’s really going on? (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Taurus: The Moon
Meaning: There are unanswered questions or mysteries that you’d like to get answers to. The Moon is a card of secrets and illusions and hints you need to do some digging, research, probing, and looking beyond face value.
We can all assume we know someone well and then discover there’s a whole chunk of their life or history or personality we’ve missed… don’t do that here. Get to see it all. Get to the bottom of what you feel is missing or hidden.

Gemini
May 22 to June 21
Gemini, take the steps you need to take (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Gemini: Knight of Coins
Meaning: You want to make sensible, material, practical plans and ambitions with your other half, stuff related to work, health, wealth, and work. You want to build a solid foundation and robust platform on which to create a great lifestyle together.
This happens by design. This happens by planning and aligning and working together on shared goals. The Knight of Coins says it’s time to get practical and plan ahead for your best life together, anything is possible with focus and intent.

Cancer
June 22 to July 23
Look outside your relationship for answers (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Cancer: Three of Coins
Meaning: You have a jealous, possessive streak and there’s no sense denying that. All Cancerians are passionate… and intense. You love to be intimate and cosy – just the two of you. But outside influences always seem to peek in!
The Three of Coins asks you to work on this. Either there is an outside influence that needs addressing, tackling, or minimizing, or you perhaps need to learn to be more open, eager to share your other half, and okay with them having friends and people other than you who make them laugh, smile, and feel good.

Leo
July 24 to August 23
Seek the truth, Leo (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Leo: The Hermit
Meaning: The Hermit is about enlightenment and truth. Usually achieved via a solo journey of honesty and information seeking. What is it that you want to know about your other half, your relationship, or your wider love life story in general?
Use this transit to seek your truths and create narratives that make sense to you and provide some life lessons or wisdoms you can work with. Have a heart to heart, ask new questions, listen more than you talk, be honest.

Virgo
August 24 to September 23
Are there any areas you’ve been lacking in? (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Virgo: Seven of Swords
Meaning: Be honest with yourself about your behaviour, attitude, and intentions towards your other half. Are they always wholesome and honourable? I know you’re a super squeaky clean Virgo but you can hold grudges, fester over resentments, seek justice, and bide your time to get your own back, just like the rest of us!
The Seven of Swords hints you’re holding onto something and maybe it’s starting to hurt you more than them! Release the toxicity, poison, or bad feeling. Let it all go. Start afresh.

September 24 to October 23
Death signals a change and renewal of something in your life (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Libra: Death
Meaning: You are ready to renew and refresh your relationship, inside out, and top to bottom. You feel like you’ve both reached the end of one phase and are now different people with new outlooks and needs, and it’s time to create a new dynamic for you both to live in.
Death shows this process will be transformative and rejuvenating, you will both change as people, and your relationship will flex to a new shape. This is positive progress.

Scorpio
October 24 to November 22
There’s nothing wrong with taking some space (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Scorpio: Ten of Wands
Meaning: You are both tired and maybe stressed and life has been tough at times in 2023. Give yourselves a break, declutter, unwind, let go of some commitments or duties that are no longer urgent or important.
You need to breathe and have some space, individually and together. If you can take a holiday, then do! The Ten of Wands shows you both just need more relaxation, and then you’ll feel more open towards each other and your needs.

Sagittarius
November 23 to December 21
Get on the same page (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Sagittarius: The Hierophant
Meaning: The Hierophant, in relationship readings, points to authority and convention so it often predicts engagement, marriage, children, and ‘nesting’ type behaviour. Sometimes it hints at rebellion against these norms, and maybe you feel your relationship doesn’t need to be labelled or bound to the usual conventions.
Talk about your expectations, hopes, and fears. Are you aligned when it comes to understanding what you want in the future and where things are going?

Capricorn
December 22 to January 21
Stand up for what you deserve (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Capricorn: Knight of Swords
Meaning: You must stand up for yourself and say how you feel, what you need, and what is happening that makes you uncomfortable or pressured.
The Knight of Swords is a call to action to push back and be more demanding. It’s time. If not now, then when? Don’t let things slide further away from you, or the balance to tilt even more in their favour. Redress things now. Get an even keel. Get a fair shake. Get what you need and want, you deserve it!

Aquarius
January 22 to February 19
Don’t sit on the fence (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Aquarius: Page of Swords
Meaning: Stop hedging your bets and keeping your options so very open. Stop playing both sides. Commit, Aquarius, because otherwise you will continue this phase of limbo where neither of you really know where you stand nor what lies ahead.
The Page of Swords urges you to be honest, direct, and committed to whatever it is, whatever it is, that you want. If they don’t know what that is, then how can they help you? Open up, share your desires, say how it is for you. I think you’ll be surprised at the (positive) response. Stop wasting time. Start opening up.

Pisces
February 20 to March 20
Take yourself on a trip or go exploring in another way (Picture: Getty/Metro.co.uk)
Tarot card for Pisces: The World
Meaning: The World can be a literal prompt to travel and go on a lovely, adventurous trip so maybe that’s what you both need right now. It’s also a more abstract nudge towards tying up loose ends, releasing old or outdated habits or beliefs, and activating the ‘next chapter’ in your shared life together.
Something has perhaps run its course and you’re ready to tick it off the list. But what’s next? That is what this cosmic transit is all about: finding out together…
