PAPER TALK

The Sunday Papers focus heavily on the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, in particular the chaos at Kabul airport. The former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s comments on the chaos also make many front pages. The former PM called the decision to withdraw US, UK and Nato troops ‘imbecilic’. The papers pick up on the ex-PM’s heavy criticism of US President Joe Biden’s handling of US troops in particular.

The Sun on Sunday is one of few papers to lead with a story not related to Afghanistan, as it says the royal family are preparing to fight back against Prince Harry and Meghan.

…………….

Sunday’s front pages:

The Sun – Palace ready for Prince Harry battle

The Daily Mail – UK: Run for the border

The Mirror – Blair: Biden imbecile on Afghanistan

The Independent – Afghans crushed to death in Kabul airport chaos

The Observer – Afghans face catastrophe without urgent aid, UN warns

The Times – Blair attacks Biden’s ‘imbecilic’ retreat as Kabul airport chaos deepens
