Police ‘were held back’ during Wembley chaos
The Times says a policeman who challenged ticketless fans during chaotic scenes at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley this month has accused senior officers of a reluctance to use force because of concerns over “brand image”.
The Metropolitan Police officer told The Times that he and his colleagues were “held back” from intervening in the mayhem as thousands of intruders forced their way into the stadium during England’s match against Italy on July 11.
