Covid rules: Face masks could be made compulsory under Boris Johnson’s winter plan, leading scientist warns
The i says face masks could be made mandatory in certain settings to reduce the spread of coronavirus during the winter, a leading scientist has said.
Boris Johnson is due to unveil his plan for tackling the virus over the winter months on Tuesday, with speculation that the Prime Minister is likely to focus on vaccines rather than lockdowns to prevent a surge in the virus.
Professor Linda Bauld, a public health expert from the University of Edinburgh, suggested that the Prime Minister could announce the reintroduction of compulsory masks in certain settings if the picture for coronavirus “deteriorates”.
