Modelling shows that, by mid-century, households would save about £700 a year on heating bills
Two ways UK households could save thousands of pounds per year
Climate advisers say households would save hundreds of pounds a year on driving and energy bills by shifting away from “volatile” fossil fuels – but admit, it would come with upfront costs.
The Climate Change Committee say its modelling shows that, by mid-century, households that switch to low-carbon heat pumps for home heating and electric vehicles (EVs) would save about £700 a year on heating bills and another £700 on motoring costs.
The committee said the cost of fitting houses with heat pumps instead of boilers are a “sizeable” part of the costs of the UK’s net zero shift and people will need support to make the switch.
