The chief financial officer of a large multinational food manufacturing firm was arrested for public intoxication after he wandered into the wrong home and fell asleep, police said.
Tyson Foods CFO John R Tyson was arrested early on Sunday morning in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The poultry and meat business is located 10 miles away in nearby Springdale.
A woman called 911 around 2am that morning when she arrived home to find Tyson sleeping in her bed. She told police that she thought he got in through a door she accidentally left unlocked.
The woman did not know Tyson, who struggled to wake up and respond to officers at the scene. They eventually identified him by his driver’s license, which was left in his clothing at the foot of the bed.
He was taken to Washington County Detention Center and released on Sunday night after paying his $415 bail.
‘We’re aware of the incident and as this is a personal matter, we have no additional comment,’ a Tyson Foods spokesperson told KNWA.
Tyson is a fourth-generation member of the family of poultry moguls. He shares his name with current Tyson Foods chairman and billionaire John H Tyson, as well as the company’s founder John W Tyson.
Tyson joined the company in 2019 and leads reports directly to CEO Donnie King, according to Tyson Foods’ website.
Tyson is not the first food executive to run into trouble with the law outside of business this year. In September, Beyond Foods chief operating officer Douglas Ramsey was arrested after he bit flesh off a man’s nose during a parking lot brawl.
Ramsey faces charges of terroristic threatening, second-degree battery, and criminal mischief for the incident that started after another driver bumped his front tire in a parking garage.
The Beyond Foots executive had been attending a University of Arkansas Razorbacks college football game, coincidentally in the same town of Fayetteville where Tyson was arrested.
