Call Of Duty streamer Steffy Evans has committed to sandwich-making in a bid to raise awareness about misogyny and sexism in gaming.
The Call Of Duty community sadly has a bad reputation when it comes to toxicity, leading Activision to introduce a new filtering system and ban thousands of player accounts.
Female gamers are treated especially poorly, as online abuse is almost certain if they keep their mic open.
In fear of getting banned, many players resort to using subtle phrases with sexist undertones, like ‘women belong in the kitchen’ or ‘go make a sandwich’.
That’s what happened to streamer Steffy Evans time after time, until she decided to follow through with her teammates’ suggestion and make some sandwiches for a good cause.
Whenever she hears the phrase, she gets up, runs to her kitchen and makes a snack, no matter if she’s in the middle of a shootout or not.
She estimates she gets told to make a sandwich in about seven out of ten matches she plays. It’s usually after the game has ended, showing that not even her top-tier Call Of Duty skills can save her from the abuse.
In fact, Steffy makes so many sandwiches during her streams that she’s decided to start donating the excess to the local homeless.
In a tweet, Steffy gave away the method she uses for maximum efficiency when it comes to sandwich making, boasting she was able to make one in just over a minute.
More: Twitch
Although Steffy has been a streamer for some time now, her attemps at putting sexist Call Of Duty players on blast are more recent.
Not long ago she managed to get an account banned for threatening her with sexual assault. Her speaking out was met with thousands of messages of support, as well as encouraging fellow female players to share their experiences.
Hopefully, as more and more people raise awareness about online abuse, the tide will turn against trolls and they’ll be discouraged from harassing fellow players.
