Former President Donald Trump said that his wife Melania loves him but ‘hates it’ when he dances off the stage.
Despite Melania thinking his dance moves are ‘not presidential’, Trump did them again at his latest 2024 campaign rally.
Trump shared what the former first lady despises him doing while promising a crowd in Sioux City, Iowa, that if reelected he will ban transgender people from competing in women’s sports.
‘What? Should I do this one or no? Because you know, our first lady hates it when I do,’ Trump said of his impersonations of weightlifting and swimming, as some of his fans encouraged him to do so by saying, ‘Yeah’.

‘She says, “Darling, I love you so much, but this is not presidential when you do the weightlifting, this is not presidential. Or when you do the swimming thing.’
Trump pretended lift imaginary barbells, drawing laughter from the crowd.
‘You know and I understand it, or when you dance off the stage,’ Trump continued on things Melania does not like.
‘She said, “Sir.” She said, “Darling, I love you, I love you, but this is not presidential. You don’t dance off the stage. This is not presidential,”‘ Trump said.

At the end of his speech on Sunday, Trump went against Melania’s wishes.
‘Look. We got a year to go (before the election). Everybody loves us. I love everybody. The country’s going to hell in a hand-basket. Let’s do a little dancing,’ he said.
‘Technically, she’s probably right. But what the hell?’
Trump clapped and then made two fists and moved them back and forth in the air as music played in the background. It clearly entertained his supporters, and is probably why he did it although ‘not presidential’.

Trump in his 2016 presidential run tried to win the LGBTQ community, but as president saw through several anti-transgender policies including banning openly trans members from serving in the armed forces.
The ex-president mocked trans athletes with examples of them easily beating women in weightlifting and swimming competitions.
‘It’s very demeaning to women,’ Trump said.
Melania has not accompanied Trump on the campaign trail since he announced his bid last November.
Last month, Trump said his wife will be joining him ‘pretty soon’.
‘When it’s appropriate, but pretty soon,’ Trump told NBC’s Meet the Press. ‘She’s a private person, a great person, a very confident person and she loves our country very much.’
He added: ‘Honestly, I like to keep her away from it. It’s so nasty and so mean.’
Besides Melania, others have not been pleased with Trump’s dance moves. The disco band Village People sent him a cease and desist letter in May for dancing to their Macho Man song. It looked like the same or similar dance move that he flaunted off the stage over the weekend.
