The Mail wonders whether BT’s recent announcement of cutting up to 55,000 jobs by the end of the decade marks “the beginning of a significant upheaval in AI-driven job losses.” The paper says the move is a glimpse into a chilling future where the “march of the robots” starts impacting the job market. The Financial Times says BT’s decision is the “most radical cost-cutting initiative since privatisation in the 1980s.”
G7 summit
The i leads on reports that the PM is set to advocate for greater international regulation of artificial intelligence when attending the G7 Summit.
The Guardian also leads on the summit, reporting the PM plans to gain more support for Ukraine during the meeting, whilst the Express highlights his warning to other nations regarding complacency in deadline with Russia.
.The front page of the Financial Times features an interview with US investor Carl Icahn, who reveals that his company has incurred losses exceeding £7 billion in the stock market over the past six years. Icahn admits to making a significant bet on the market crash, emphasising that he always tells people that “nobody can accurately predict the market.” However, he concedes that he failed to adhere to his own advice.
