Several of the tabloids report on the story as their papers lead, the Daily Mail says Abramovich was “blinded in poison attack” adding the oligarch suffered piercing eye pain, while the skin on his face and hands peeled off, after eating chocolate at the talks.
The Sun describes it as a “chemical attack” that left Abramovich temporarily blinded. The Daily Mirror also leads with the Russian oligarch “lost his sight for several hours” amid claims of a “new Russia outrage.”
The Daily Star features an uncharacteristically straight report on the suspected poisoning, using a recent picture of Mr Abramovich at an airport in Israel in the days after he fell ill and lost his sight for “several hours”.
The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph both lead with Partygate. Both papers claim the Met police concluded that “laws were broken at the heart of government” as they report that the first 20 or so fines for lockdown breaches are to be issued “with more to come.”
The Guardian front page also reports on the resumption of Ukraine peace talks amid the allegations that Roman Abramovich was poisoned.
The i newspaper reports on the UK’s new energy strategy being delayed because of disagreement over the PM’s desire to spend more than £100bn on nuclear power. “Johnson and Sunak row goes nuclear” is the headline for the paper.
The Daily Express leads with a report that state pensions will increase by more than 7% next year. The paper says Mr Sunak is guaranteeing the return of the “triple lock”, after criticism of its suspension.
Whilst the Metro reports “Duke back on parade” as Prince Andrew is set to make a public appearance with the Royal Family since he settled his US sex assault case. The paper says he is listed among the guests to attend the thanksgiving service for Prince Phillip at Westminster Abbey.
