What do the newspapers say?
There are a few stories dominating the papers today. Most of the front pages feature pictures of the migrants rescued from the Channel. Four died in the Channel as a packed dinghy sank in the freezing cold water.
Elsewhere, the first-ever nurses strike begins – it’s the biggest NHS walkout in history and the killer of Zara Aleena – a young law graduate who was raped and murdered as she walked home – has been sentenced to 38 years behind bars.
A damning report into how police forces handle rape cases – including failure to track repeat suspects and “explicit victim blaming” is also reported on several papers.
