MAY’S FINAL SPEECH: PM’S SWIPE AT HARDLINE BREXITEERS WHO FORCED HER OUT
The Independent leads with Theresa May’s final speech as Prime Minister. May seemingly made a dig at the hardline Brexiteers within her party that was responsible for ending her run as PM.
May suggests those hardline Brexiteers adopted a polarised “winner takes all” approach in regards to her EU withdrawal agreement. The PM believes this approach stopped her from resolving the Brexit deadlock and giving the deal most voters wanted.
May delivered a warning to her successor not to impose a no-deal outcome and warned for the country to reunite and be sustainable, a successful Brexit must “involve some kind of compromise.”

MANCHESTER ATTACK: TERRORIST’S BROTHER WILL FACE MURDER CHARGES
BBC News reports, the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber is set to appear in court, charged with murdering the 22 victims of the attack. Hashem Abed was detained in Libya in 2017 shortly after the suicide bombing carried out by his brother.
Attempts to return the 22- year old British citizen was delayed due to ongoing fighting in Libya. However, Libyan authorities handed him over to British police today. He is expected to appear at Westminister Magistrates’ Court “in due course.”

HOUSE OF LORDS ATTEMPTS TO PREVENT A NO-DEAL BREXIT
The Guardian reports, the House of Lords has backed an attempt to prevent the next PM from being able to shut down Parliament to push through a no-deal Brexit.
The amendment was passed by a majority of 103 on Wednesday meaning parliament would sit in the weeks leading up to the October deadline. Johnson has not ruled out suspending Parliament to ensure the UK could leave the EU by the deadline- even without a deal.
A no-deal showdown is expected in the House of Commons on Thursday where MPs will have to approve the amendment to make it into a final version of the bill.

WATERLOO STATION: NINE PLATFORMS CLOSED DUE TO FIRE
Wednesday’s evening fire at Waterloo station may affect Thursday’s rush hour. The blaze caused damaging to cabling outside of the station, meaning platforms 16-24 are not in use.
Officials say “significant damage” has been caused to equipment meaning delays and cancellations. Whilst engineers worked through the night to repair the damage, commuters are strongly advised to check their journey’s before travelling today.
