Theo Walcott believes Arsenal have what it takes to win the Premier League title (Picture: talkSPORT)
Theo Walcott is confident Arsenal have what it takes to win the Premier League title and believes they will take north London bragging rights on Sunday against ‘negative’ Tottenham.
The Gunners dropped points at home to Newcastle in their last league outing but still enjoy a five-point lead over champions Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta’s side face the acid test of their credentials over the course of the next month with games against Spurs, Manchester United and City all on the horizon.
Walcott won the FA Cup three occasions during his 12-year Arsenal career during which he scored a century of goals, but never came close to lifting the title.
The 33-year-old, now back at his boyhood club Southampton, feels there is something stirring in the red half of north London and pointed to the way stand-in striker Eddie Nketiah has performed in the absence of Gabriel Jesus as evidence of their progression.
Asked whether Arsenal will win the league, Walcott told talkSPORT: ‘Yes. I do. I really do actually.
‘Look at Eddie Nketiah right now, he’s having his opportunity and he’s taken it with both hands.

‘There’s something about Arsenal right now, just the whole atmosphere there.
‘I’m positive about it, I really am.’
Looking ahead to the derby, Walcott, who has scored seven goals against Spurs in his career, said: ‘It’s at Tottenham isn’t it?
‘I’m very confident to be honest, I feel like Tottenham play quite a negative style.
‘But to some extent Arsenal will have a lot of the ball which could play a bit into Tottenham’s hands, they tend to like that.
‘But it’s the derby, this is one of the games where anyone can win this, they really can.’
