There was serious drama on Tuesday’s episode of The Traitors as Matt felt the full brunt of Alex and Tom’s relationship reveal.
The BBC One reality show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, has proved massively popular since bursting on to our screens last week, with secrets and lies the name of the game.
However just because the player knowingly signed up to a game show that revolves around betrayals and lies, doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.
Tuesday night saw Tom reveal that he and Alex are in a relationship, having hidden that fact from other players to avoid looking suspicious.
The revelation caused a major argument as the players fought over who could be a secret Traitor – but for contestant Matt it was less about the potential prize money and more about being lied to by the girl he had a ‘connection’ with from the start of the series.
And, as another player hopefully told Matt as Tom revealed Alex was his girlfriend: ‘I thought you were going to get with Alex.’
As an argument erupted and Alex admitted she was glad the secret was out in the open, Matt began openly weeping.

‘You both lied to me, to my face. That makes me suspicious of both of you and I’m upset,’ he said, before putting his head in his hands and sobbing.
Alex, speaking to cameras later, said she ‘feels bad’ for Matt because they had ‘a nice friendship.’
‘Seeing his reaction to him finding that out did hurt a lot,’ she admitted.

Having been comforted by his fellow game show contestants, Matt said through tears: ‘It’s just the fact that I don’t like being lied to. Being lied to is s*** as f***.’
He told cameras: ‘I didn’t come in here thinking I was going to find myself a girlfriend or anything like that. It’s literally just the fact she’s lied to me. I would trust everyone until they cross me. And when they cross me they lose my trust and that’s it.’
Tom, meanwhile, repeated: ‘It’s a game though. It’s a game. It’s a game.’

Later, Alex and Matt got the chance to speak alone, with Alex apologising for not telling him she had a boyfriend as part of their strategy for winning the game and prize money.
‘I think you’re amazing, I think you’re really cool. I want to be friends with you outside of this,’ she said. ‘It upset me to see you so hurt.’
‘You guys played me quite well,’ he said, as Alex insisted they hadn’t ‘played’ him.
‘The reason I was so upset earlier wasn’t just because I found out you have a boyfriend,’ Matt insisted. ‘You had broken that trust. That’s what upset me.’
‘I don’t care about what happened. I was upset and emotional because of everything else that was going on. But I still love you and I always will,’ he said.

Tuesday’s episode ended in a cliffhanger, with either Ivan or Alex set to be sent home – despite neither of them being a Traitor.
And who is set to cast the deciding vote? None other than Traitor Amanda, who has been loving the chaos.
