Here are the wildest moments from The Traitors Australia (Picture: Ten)
*Warning! Spoilers for The Traitors Australia ahead*
If you’ve spent months trying to fill The Traitors sized hole in your TV viewing desires, worry no more as the Australian version hits screens.
After the reality series stopped the country last year when people couldn’t stop talking about the totally addictive show, BBC has now given us access to the blockbuster 12 episodes of the Australian spin-off.
While the game is exactly the same, the twists and turns are entirely original as the group both tries to build up the prize pool whilst eliminating those who pose a risk to them taking any of it home.
Those who have already binged the entire series have made their thoughts known and it seems they were pretty impressed.
While one fan joked on social media that they were ‘exhausted’ another labelled it ‘completely unhinged’.
Someone else said they had watched it all in just two days and now ‘didn’t know what to do’ with themselves.
If you thought things couldn’t any crazier than jaw-dropping moments like Amanda declaring she would roar like the Welsh dragon if Wilf betrayed her or Kieran delivering his ‘parting gift’ that eventually helped unveil the last man standing, boy are you wrong.
Here are some of the most insane moments that unfolded across the series as our friends Down Under fought it out to make it to the end and walk away with the prize money.
The absolutely genius casting
The Traitors Australia casting was top-tier (Picture: Ten)
Before the game even got underway it was clear that the cast was going to bring all the drama and gameplay that matched the magic of the British version.
Of the 24 contestants, there were countless with careers that were anything but run-of-the mill.
From former cop and current criminal lawyer MK, 59, to forensic investigator Olivia, 47, many made the decision to hide what their 9-5 involved to avoid arousing suspicion.
That included Nigel, 50, who holds the unenviable title of being Australia’s longest-ever held hostage.
A former photojournalist, he was kidnapped by Islamist insurgents in Somalia in 2008 and held with a fellow journalist for 460 days, and now works as a hostage negotiator.
But perhaps the most genius stroke of casting came in the form of 30-year-old Chloe, a clairvoyant.
Open about her abilities from the start, Chloe’s psychic skills were questioned at times, but soon proved to be pretty damn accurate.
Spirits sending a message
Clairvoyant Chloe left the game immediately after naming two of the Traitors (Picture: Ten)
In an absolutely unexpected turn of events, Chloe put all her cards on the table a few episodes in and decided to name with impressive accuracy the four people she suspected of being Traitors.
During a banishment, she was pressured to single out people she thought had been turned, naming Teresa, Kash, Angus and Marielle, the latter two of whom were spot on.
But before her theory could be tested, Chloe suddenly left the competition, leaving the rest of the group with the responsibility of deciding whether or not they had faith in what she said.
The mysterious witness
After watching the entire series, I don’t think anyone is any the wiser to what went on with the seemingly never ending debates and discussions over whether a witness saw Jack make a comment admitting he was a Traitor to Olivia.
All we know is, it was all a massive waste of time, because he was as faithful as they come.
That of course only came out after he was booted off the show though.
Matt melts down trying to defend himself
Matt did whatever he could to convince the others he was a Faithful – but failed (Picture: Ten)
Real estate agent Matt, 32, began the game by largely slipping under the radar but when the heat was put on him, it’s safe to say he started to freak out.
Absolutely desperate to clear his name, he started doing the rounds to try and reassure people that their votes were wasted on him, but his behaviour ended up just rubbing people the wrong way, with many saying the chaotic energy was clouding their ‘Traitor-hunting’.
Despite his best efforts, Matt was eventually banished.
Marielle putting Wilf’s backstabbing to shame
Marielle played an epic game throughout the series (Picture: Ten)
If you thought Wilf turning on fellow Traitors was wild, his actions were nothing compared to Marielle doing whatever it took to win.
The law student, 24, made it clear early on she wasn’t there to mess around, sharing with producers at the start that she’d once turned in friends who were cheating in their university exams.
When she started to feel attention turning towards her, she struck while the iron was hot and conspired with the Faithful’s to bring down fellow Traitor Angus, followed by Claire, who at least knew her days were numbered.
As she explained when she made the decision to vote for Angus, Marielle believed it was time to ‘cut him loose’ as his slip-ups were possibly putting her in the firing line.
Oh, and she apparently felt absolutely ‘no loyalty’ to him.
But after recruiting Alex into the gang late in the game, Marielle’s protégé ended up pulling up the ultimate gameplay and doing the exact same thing to her that she’d done to the other two.
‘I just got totally blindsided. I trusted Alex but the one I recruited and gave the keys to the tower turned on me…she’s deadly,’ she said of the eventual winner.
The contestants absolute obsession with host Rodger Corser

While Claudia Winkleman is obviously an ultimate hun here, the casting of beloved Australian actor Rodger Corser as the host of the Australian series was never quite lost on those who got to spend time with him.
The 50-year-old has featured in shows like crime mini-series Underbelly, police drama Rush and in medical series Doctor Doctor, and has become a mainstay on Aussie screens over the past 20 years.
When receiving letters from him during the course of the competition, contestants joked with each other at times that Rodger was sending them love letters, while when Teresa left, she decided to shoot her shot and asked the host to just leave with her.
Rodger’s suave style also caught the attention of the group, who were forced to don bright red tracksuits as the host turned up in suits and even dressed up for a row in a lake at one point.
The epic final gameplay
Alex was eventually named the winner, walking away with £130,000 (Picture: Ten)
The results of the final banishment and the decision to eliminate Lewis, who turned out to be a Faithful, was best summed up by Craig when he realised he was now in the final three with a Traitor.
‘Oh crap,’ he exclaimed as his face dropped.
After another banishment that saw Kate sent packing (after her and Alex turned on each other), it came down to the final two.
Although a worthy winner, it was still pretty heart wrenching watching Alex breaking the news to long-time ally Craig that she had hoodwinked him and was taking all the money.
The social media coordinator and model had said throughout the game that she intended to use the prize money to put towards IVF treatment with her partner.
Despite the worthy cause, it was hard not to tear up seeing a Traitor take the winnings, especially after the elation we all felt seeing Aaron Evans, Meryl Williams and Hannah Byczkowski walk away with the £101,050 prize after working together to eliminate Wilf, the last Traitor standing.
While this series might be done and dusted, The Traitors fans have several more on the way, with a second British season already confirmed, while season 2 of the Australian one is set to feature a mix of both civilians and celebrities.
The Traitors is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
