The PP spokesperson in Parliament, Juan Fernández, stated this Monday that the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, is a “hostage of ERC” after the refusal to agree on the regional budgets communicated yesterday by the independence party.
At a press conference, Fernández lamented the “paralysis” of the regional government, which in his opinion plays the “inherited score” of the Pere Aragonès era. “We continue with the same uncertainties with which we ended last year,” he declared. The leader has regretted that ERC is not interested in “entering into a negotiating dynamic” and that, literally, the Catalans have been kidnapped from the possibility of having updated accounts.
But he has blamed the PSC for its responsibility as a government. In this sense, he recalled that Illa promised to have new accounts on January 1, a goal that has not been met. This fact will perpetuate, in Fernández’s words, the “fiscal hell” that Catalonia suffers, as well as the delays of an Administration that “does not respond.”
ITP reduction
Until now, only the common people have sat down to agree on the budgets with the Government, in a first meeting that resulted in the commitment of the socialists to approve the sanctioning regime for the housing law before February.
Despite this situation, the PP has not offered its support to the Government to agree on concrete measures or move forward with the budgets; On the other hand, those from Illa have not considered this option. “We will be an alternative,” said Fernández.
Just yesterday, the popular people announced the so-called Declaration of Asturias, a package of measures to facilitate access to housing that will be implemented in all communities governed by the liberal-conservatives. In the case of Catalonia, Fernández has announced that in the coming weeks several proposals will be processed in Parliament, such as the reduction of the Property Transfer tax to 4%.
