The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey has opened up on her savage Game of Thrones death, revealing the surprising way she found out her character was meeting her demise.
In 2016, the actor made her debut on the epic fantasy show as the fierce Lyanna Mormont, the 10-year-old head of House Mormont who commanded respect everywhere she went.
Seven years later, she’s starring opposite fellow GOT alum Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us, a highly-anticipated TV adaptation of a video game franchise that’s become a global phenomenon.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 19-year-old spoke to the TV host about her final moments as Lyanna, who was killed at the Battle of Winterfell in season eight when she sacrificed herself in order to bring down a terrifying, reanimated dead giant.
‘I enjoyed it, I had a wonderful time,’ Bella said of her death scene, having filmed it in Belfast.
She explained that they put the scene together with a giant robotic claw and a green screen, which was programmed to shake her around 20 feet in the air, while she held onto a bottle of blood.

As for how she found out she was getting the chop, Bella admitted she wasn’t told before receiving the script.
‘Do they tell you that you are going to be squished to death by a giant?’ Jimmy asked.
‘I anticipated being told. I heard rumours that you get the phone call, saying, “Listen, you’re going to die this season.” I didn’t get a phone call,’ she replied.
Bella outlined how her mum was the first one to discover her fate when she pored over the script.

‘Actually my mum read it first in the middle of the night. She gets very excited about the scripts,’ she recalled.
‘She was reading it, and let me know in the morning. She was like, “You die.” I was like, “What?!” But I was happy.’
As well as Game of Thrones, some of Bella’s most notable past credits have included starring in The Worst Witch, Becoming Elizabeth and His Dark Materials.
Ahead of the launch of The Last Of Us, she revealed that she’d returned to social media after a hiatus.
‘So I deleted Twitter and Instagram off my phone for a while and sorta forgot to get them back… what have I missed? I feel like I missed a lot. Get ready for so much tweeting,’ she wrote, much to her fans’ excitement.
‘Glad you’re back Bella! We can’t wait to see your performance in the show, it’s going to be amazing,’ one person tweeted in response.
‘Welcome back Bella!! Lots of big and exciting things! So excited for the show, you’re gonna kill it,’ another said.
The Last of Us will be available from January 16 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
