The Last Of Us actress Bella Ramsey admitted that she’s having trouble sticking to her British accent.
The HBO show, set in a post-apocalyptic world that’s been ravaged by a monstrous pandemic, has won widespread acclaim ever since its launch last month, with fans showering the lead stars Pedro Pascal and 19-year-old Bella with praise for their portrayals of the characters Joel and Ellie from the video game franchise.
Seven years later, she’s starring opposite fellow GOT alum Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us, a highly-anticipated TV adaptation of a video game franchise that’s become a global phenomenon.
The star, who plays Ellie, on the hit series revealed that she’s become somewhat attached to the American accent she developed on the show.
During Wednesday’s The One Show, she told hosts Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas: ‘I woke up speaking American…. it happened last week, like I’m living back home.
‘I don’t know why it’s happening, I’m determined to stay British, but it’s difficult when I’m around people with American accents.’

She added: ‘I do find myself slipping back into an American accent quite easily.’
Bella recently addressed the backlash from trolls over the LBGT+ storylines in the show.
During a recent interview, Game of Thrones star Bella was asked about the minority of people who feel disgruntled by the diversity in the tale, with the second instalment of the video game also featuring a trans character called Lev.
‘I’m not particularly anxious about it,’ said the 19-year-old, who identifies as gender fluid and previously said she doesn’t mind what pronouns are used to describe her.
She continued to GQ: ‘I know people will think what they want to think. But they’re gonna have to get used to it.
‘If you don’t want to watch the show because it has gay storylines, because it has a trans character, that’s on you, and you’re missing out,’ adding that vitriol ‘isn’t gonna make me afraid’.
