Warning: spoilers ahead for The Last of Us.
The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey has stressed that backlash from trolls over LGBT+ storylines in the show doesn’t particularly bother her, stressing that the minority of people kicking up a fuss are ‘missing out’.
The HBO show, set in a post-apocalyptic world that’s been ravaged by a monstrous pandemic, has won widespread acclaim ever since its launch last month, with fans showering the lead stars Pedro Pascal and Bella with praise for their portrayals of the characters Joel and Ellie from the video game franchise.
Episode 3, which followed the love story of Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) left viewers across the globe sobbing, while those who have played the video game will know that there are more LGBT+ plot points to come, including Ellie being canonically gay.
During a recent interview, Game of Thrones star Bella was asked about the minority of people who feel disgruntled by the diversity in the tale, with the second instalment of the video game also featuring a trans character called Lev.
‘I’m not particularly anxious about it,’ said the 19-year-old, who identifies as gender fluid and previously said she doesn’t mind what pronouns are used to describe her.

She continued to GQ: ‘I know people will think what they want to think. But they’re gonna have to get used to it.
‘If you don’t want to watch the show because it has gay storylines, because it has a trans character, that’s on you, and you’re missing out,’ adding that vitriol ‘isn’t gonna make me afraid’.
Melanie Lynskey, who plays revolutionary leader Kathleen in The Last of Us, recently hit back at homophobic trolls, when one on Twitter claimed that her being cast in the programme was ‘pushing a homosexual agenda’.
‘OMG yes let me push that homosexual agenda just by showing up! An honour!’ she quipped in response.

In a tweet celebrating the news Bella wrote:’I FORGOT ABOUT TWITTER FOR A SECOND but you heard about season two right? I’m taking a ride with my best frienddddd (again) :).’
