The Great British Bake Off runner-up Sandro Farmhouse has shared that baking helped him deal with the death of his father.
While the amateur baker was initially rejected from the show, he finally made it onto the series and made it all the way to the finale.
Ahead of the the series, Sandro, 30, shared that he was 21 when his father passed away, but has now spoken more about how baking played a pivotal role in helping him with that loss.
Speaking on Wednesday’s Lorraine, Sandro spoke more about how he turned to baking at a young age, a passion he then used for comfort when he lost his dad.
When Lorraine asked where his love of baking came from, he said it was something he used to do with his mum.
‘I used to always bake with my mum when I was younger,’ he said.

‘I was that kid who always wanted to lick the spoon, of course, and I guess the passion grew from there.
‘She used to make simple sort of cakes and then I got into cake decorating when my dad passed away.’
Sandro was then asked if baking helped him ‘concentrate on something beautiful’ and whether it was ‘a form of therapy’.

‘Yes, it was therapy, and I did it naturally,’ he said.
