Fancy a bank holiday trip to Tesco? Here are the times you need (Picture: Getty Images)
It’s been a bumper May for bank holidays – with three in total for 2023.
There was, of course, the Early May bank holiday as usual, along with an extra day off on Monday, May 8 to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Now, the last of the three is upon us – aka the Spring bank holiday Monday on May 29.
If you get the day off work, perhaps you’d like to use it to chill, or catch up on errands such as food shopping – meaning it’s useful to know when your local Tesco will be open.
Even if you’re working it, you might be keen to find out about the opening times of your nearest Tesco, in order to pick up a few essentials as you make your way home.
Whatever your situation, here are Tesco opening hours you need to know.

Firstly, you can expect your Tesco to be open at its usual times on the Saturday and Sunday preceding bank holiday Monday.
On May 29 itself, some shops may have slightly different opening hours than usual.
Many Tesco Extra stores, including 24 hour Tescos, will be operating reduced Monday hours from 8am to 6pm in England and Wales. They will stay open until the later time of 8pm in Scotland.
In Northern Ireland, however, Extra stores appear to be sticking to their usual opening hours.
Smaller Express stores around the UK should also be open for their usual hours – typically from 6am or 7am until 10pm, 11pm or midnight, depending on your exact store.

These times vary, though, depending on your location.
So, do check your local Tesco store’s opening times using the store locator online.
Pop in your town/city or postcode and click ‘store details’ to view its opening times.
If you spot a special ‘holiday hours’ section alongside the drop-down section on opening hours, then you know your nearest is adjusting their hours for the bank holiday.
To avoid rocking up to a closed supermarket, it is always best to double check.
