The ‘absolutely terrifying’ first trailer for latest Conjuring movie has finally dropped, marking the end of an era for the legendary horror franchise.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will be released in cinemas on September 5, with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren respectively – alongside Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, Steve Coulter, Rebecca Calder and Elliot Cowan.
The upcoming flick serves as a sequel to 2023’s The Devil Made Me Do It, and will transport viewers back to 1986, where a news report announces that the ‘devil has come to Pennsylvania’
In the teaser, Ed and Lorraine Warren arrive to help another family who have been plagued by a terrifying spirit in their home.
However, there’s a twist in store for the couple as they learn that they have gone up against this particular demon once before.
‘Ed, there’s an evil here. Something I’ve felt before,’ Lorraine warns.

‘This thing in your house is a demon. It’s the first one that we’ve ever encountered.’
‘We were young, we were scared. We ran away,’ she adds to her husband. ‘And after all these years, it wasn’t done with our family.’
It isn’t looking good for the couple as, in the final moments of the trailer, Ed declares: ‘I don’t know how to protect you this time.’

Last Rites will mark the ninth and final instalment of the Conjuring franchise, which first hit the big screen in 2013.
Little else is known about the plot, to encourage maximum scares, with a synopsis simply reading: ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events.’
Fans were left stunned by the creepy clip and flocked to share their thoughts on social media.
