Tennis legend Billie Jean King has insisted that Great Britain star Emma Raducanu ‘needs therapy’ to return to the top of her game.
Raducanu won the US Open last year but has struggled to replicate any form of success ever since due to struggles with both form and injury.
The 19-year-old has not won a single event on the WTA Tour since that fairy-tale Grand Slam triumph has has slipped from world No.10 to world No.76.
She has chopped and changed her coaches throughout her career thus far and is seeking a new permanent coach after parting ways with Russian Dmitry Tursunov.
Raducanu, is, however, now working with Andy Murray’s former trainer Jez Green to address her ongoing injury problems which recently saw her withdraw from the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Glasgow and prematurely end her 2022 season.
‘I hope she’s going to therapy,’ King told The Times when quizzed about Raducanu’s struggles.
‘I don’t know if she is but it’s important to find out what she wants in life – not what anybody else around her wants, her parents or anyone.

‘She needs to search her own soul. Our job is to give her time and space. Let Emma decide what is best for her, not have everyone else deciding for her.
‘Glean the information that pertains to her. I used to love to listen to everyone. ‘
‘But I would go away and glean the information that was right for me and my personality.
‘I hope everybody just backs up. It’s like she has no breathing room. Give her some time to breathe, some space. She’s really young. Give her time.’
Raducanu’s former coach Tursunov recently spoke about his time working together with the tennis star and admitted that he saw some ‘red flags’.
Murray, meanwhile, has warned Raducanu that she will not improve her game if she continues to make changes to her coaching staff.
