Welsh teenager Gabriele Biancheri has completed his move to Manchester United from Cardiff City, posting his first pictures in the famous red shirt.
A four-year deal was agreed for the 16-year-old in January after he impressed in the youth ranks for Cardiff and for his country.
Biancheri posted on Twitter earlier this month: ‘After more than 9 years my time with Cardiff has come to an end.
‘I’d like to thank all of my coaches for helping me become the player and person I am today and to all my teammates. I’ll forever be thankful for the opportunity I’ve had at this club.’
Now his journey continues in Manchester, which he confirmed with a picture in the United shirt, with the caption: ‘I’m a red.’
Biancheri has been starring for the Cardiff Under-18 side this season, with his performances earning a step up to Under-21 level.
Speaking in December, Cardiff Under-18 head coach Steve Jenkins said of the striker’s jump up in age range: ‘There’s a long way to go with him being only 16, but he’s been fantastic stepping up.
‘Goals are brilliant for him, and his two against Bristol City to win us the game earned that call up to the U21s, and when he had his 45 minutes for them I was really impressed.’
The forward, who is eligible for Wales, England and Italy, attracted attention from Chelsea last summer but United have won the race for his signature.
He will join the academy set-up and hope to build towards first team opportunities, but time is very much on his side, with his 17th birthday not until September.
