We all know that Taylor Swift is a big deal, but that fact has only been proven once more as she’s only gone and made her way into Parliament.
The US chart-topper, 33, has had fans sweating all week as tickets went on sale for the European leg of her epic Eras Tour.
Taylor has been performing her three-hour show to thousands of fans in the States over recent months, and will jet over to the UK for six shows in London, three in Liverpool, three in Edinburgh, three in Dublin, and one in Cardiff next year.
Many Swifties got lucky and bagged themselves a spot in a stadium to see the Anti-Hero hitmaker live in 2024 as the Midnights pre-sale offered a select group early access.
But as the registered fan sales loom, people are unhappy that re-sellers are already scheming and putting tickets up for sale for hundreds – even thousands – more than they paid – MPs included.
Speaking in the House of Commons this week, Kevin Brennan – the MP for Cardiff West – explained that his daughter is a die-hard Taylor fan and called for action over scalpers.

‘Could we have a debate on secondary ticketing? Because, as the father of a Swiftie, and I know that my honourable friend, the Deputy Shadow Leader of the House, is also the mother of a Swiftie, I was appalled to see that within an hour of tickets going on sale for the Taylor Swift concert at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, a ticket was on sale in the lower tier for £3,352 on Viagogo,’ he began.
The House proceeded to gasp in shock.
‘Why hasn’t the government protected our daughters from these sorts of rip-off merchants?’
Responding, Penny Mordaunt agreed: ‘This is a shocking example.’
Following outrage from Swifties desperate to get their hands on tickets this week, Viagogo themselves issued a statement after tickets were being resold for extortionate prices.

‘The European leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has been long anticipated. We’ve not seen anything like this since The Beatles and with tickets having only just gone on sale, demand is at its peak right now,’ they began.
‘Viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee. Sellers must adhere to strict seller policies.
‘There’s simply no incentive for anyone to attempt to sell an invalid ticket on Viagogo, as they will not be paid unless the buyer gets into the event successfully. They can also be charged penalty fees and banned from our platform for any abuse of our policies.
‘Sellers on our marketplace may list tickets at high values when demand is high, but prices can change and tend to reduce over time. We recommend Swifties wait for demand to settle and check regularly for a listing that meets their budget.

‘Tickets for Taylor Swift’s UK dates have already sold for as low as £172 on our platform. Also, tickets listed at eye-catchingly high levels rarely, if ever, sell.’
Eras Tour ticket sales resume next week as remaining fans go to battle.
One city that won’t be partaking, however, is Paris, whose sale has been put on hiatus due to over one million people initially joining the pre-sale queue.
Ticketmaster France has vowed to keep fans updated on any developments as they try to figure out a solution.
