Taylor Swift has scored a seriously impressive success, as she’s en route to her tenth consecutive UK Number 1 album.
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), the re-recording of the 33-year-old singer’s critically acclaimed 2010 third LP Speak Now, is currently outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined, already pulling in an astounding 48,000 chart units over the weekend.
The release includes six unheard songs, and would become Taylor’s tenth Number 1 album in the space of little over a decade, extending her lead as the female solo artist with the second most Number 1 albums in UK chart history, second only to Madonna.
Speak Now marks the next stage of the US megastar’s ambitious re-record of her entire back catalogue to regain control of her master recordings.
It comes as music streaming platform Spotify also revealed the musician had broken records with the re-released album.
Its official Twitter account said: ‘On July 7 2023, Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2023 and the most-streamed country album in a single day in Spotify history.’

Every studio album Taylor’s released since 2012’s original Red has hit the Number 1 spot, including 1989 (2014), reputation (2017), Lover (2019), folklore (2020) evermore (2020), Fearless (Taylor’s version) (2021), red (Taylor’s Version) (2021) and Midnights (2021).
Announcing the release on Twitter on Friday, Taylor recalled ‘obsessing’ over the tracklist for the album, which was first released in 2010 through Big Machine Records.
She said: ‘It’s here. It’s yours, it’s mine, it’s ours. It’s an album I wrote alone about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20.
‘I remember making tracklist after tracklist, obsessing over the right way to tell the story. I had to be ruthless with my choices, and I left behind some songs I am still unfailingly proud of now.
‘For life, for you, for the fact that I get to reclaim my work. Thank you a million times, for the memories that break our fall. Speak Now (MY VERSION!) is out now.’
This comes amid fans flooding to retailers Ticketmater and AXS for presale tickets for her Eras Tour – but it wasn’t easy.

Plenty took to Twitter to share their deep-seated frustrations as problems plagued purchases.
The presale was only open to people who preordered Midnights from Taylor Swift’s store before the album was released.
‘Something went wrong’ and ‘oh no’ screenshots are being posted on Twitter, with fans asking what happens to their place in the queue if they get the error page appearing from AXS.
AXS’ official Twitter responded to one fan and wrote: ‘Hi there, we are aware that there is an issue for a small number of customers. We are looking into it!’
A ‘small number’ seems to be the majority on Twitter, who complained about both the waiting room and the queuing process.
The Eras Tour has been plagued by fans unable to get tickets or spending thousands as others resell them with considerable markups.
Those who don’t have Midnights presale access or get selected for the registered fan sale will have to sit tight for now as the general sale isn’t until Monday, July 17.
