Takeoff’s alleged killer has now been formally charged with murder.
A grand jury in Texas indicted Patrick Xavier Clark on Thursday (May 25), as reported to KHOU by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Clark was first arrested in December.
He was later released from the Harris County Jail in early January after posting $1million (£812k) bond.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that he has already asked a judge for $5,000 (£4,057) so he can hire a private investigator and prepare his defence.
He claims he is financially unable to cover the costs by himself.

Clark’s arrest came after Migos rapper Takeoff – real name Kirshnik Khari Ball – was shot and killed in Houston last November.
The 28-year-old died in a shooting that took place outside a bowling alley in Polk, with footage later appearing on social media, showing crowds standing around the hip-hop star as he lay injured on the ground.
Reports at the time also said that Takeoff’s groupmate and uncle Quavo, 31, had also been shot, but this was said to be false.
A coroner’s report has since said that Takeoff was shot in the head and the torso.
Police say Takeoff was not armed and he was an innocent bystander when he was hit.
Following his tragic death, there has been an outpouring of love for Takeoff, particularly in the hip-hop community.
Offset, who was also his bandmate, previously said that life felt like a ‘nightmare’.

Paying tribute to the music star, his fellow rapper, 31 – real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus – said in a message: ‘Dear Take, the pain you have left me with is unbearable. My heart is shattered and I have so many things to say but I can’t find the words.’
‘I’ve been going to sleep and waking up hoping that all of this is a dream, but it’s reality, and reality feels like a nightmare.’
He added his hopes that Takeoff could ‘see how much we love you and miss you’.
‘You have left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.’
Takeoff was also honoured at the AMAs, weeks after he was killed, with the ceremony calling out ‘senseless’ gun violence.

Most recently, Offset unveiled a huge back tattoo in honour of his late friend.
‘Love you 4L & after 🚀🤍🕊️,’ he wrote in an Instagram caption alongside two photos of himself shirtless, revealing the inking of a portrait of Offsett.
The inking, completed five months after Takeoff’s death, shows the late musician’s likeness surrounded by an elaborately patterned border and runs from the base of Offset’s neck to near the bottom of his spine.
