After nearly a decade off our screens, Survivor is back, with a brand new teaser for the upcoming series revealing a first look at what we can expect.
First airing all the way back in 2001, the British version of the survival reality series only ran for two seasons before being scrapped.
However last year the BBC announced it would be rebooting the show, again putting a group of people through their paces after being left to fend for themselves on a remote island.
The first look clip of the upcoming show has now been released, and it already shows the intense challenges that the group are going to be faced with as they compete for the £100,000 cash prize and the title of Sole Survivor.
Beginning with host, comedian Joel Dommett, enjoying what looks like a leisurely boat ride across the ocean in the Dominican Republic, he quickly makes clear the contestants won’t be having as nice a time once they arrive.
‘Welcome to a remote corner of the world, where 18 people will take part in the toughest, most challenging show on television,’ he begins.

‘They’ve come to fight it out in a strategic game that will push them physically, mentally and emotionally.
‘Who will outwit, outplay and outlast all the others to become the sole survivor?.’
Aerial shots show people undertaking tasks like throwing items onto makeshift rafts which they then need to swim to shore, while another shows contestants throwing themselves off tall waterslides made of tarpaulin.

Airing during Wimbledon coverage today, the clip also saw Joel share that the ‘tension was building’ like the upcoming final of the tennis tournament.
The clip then concluded with Joel walking along the beach before declaring: ‘This is Survivor. Coming to BBC One this Autumn.’
As one fan of the series shared on social media after seeing the video: ‘OMG THE #Survivor UK trailer just dropped during #Wimbledon and I got GOOSEBUMPS! 🔥💪🏻.’

Survivor is one of the most watched reality entertainment formats around the world and celebrated 25 years in 2022 after the format was first employed in 1997 in Sweden.
It has gone on to be ranked as the number one best reality show of all time by Variety, and 50 versions have been commissioned around the world to date.
The CBS version of the show from the United States has aired over 40 seasons.
For the uninitiated, or those who have simply forgot because it’s been so long, the competition sees contestants known as Castaways marooned in a remote location and deprived of everyday comforts.
Forced to provide their own food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves, they also compete in challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination.
Progressively eliminated from the game by each other, the last one left standing picks up the title and cash prize.
Announcing his addition to the show earlier this year, Joel said he couldn’t believe he’d been asked to take part.
‘It’s such a hugely popular format all over the world and I’m super excited to help bring it to our sweet little country, he said.
Survivor will air on BBC later this year.
