The Independent – Sunak braced for double poll blow as recession bites 

The Independent leads on the latest economic and political crisis facing PM Rishi Sunak – as Britain falls into a recession and the Tories suffer a double by-election blow. 

The paper went to print before confirmation of the losses of both seats for the Conservative Party – but the paper speculated that they would lose what it called traditional ‘safe seats.’ 

The front page image is on the mass shooting in the US – at the Super Bowl parade in Kansas. The headline notes that one person has died and children wounded.
