After four seasons, the question as to who would take over Waystar RoyCo has finally been answered with the final ever episode of Succession.
First launching back in 2018, the HBO series followed the Roy family, who own the global media and entertainment conglomerate and are fighting for control of the company amid uncertainty about the health of family patriarch, Logan Roy (Brian Cox).
The cast also included Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook as three of his children – Kendall, Roman and Siobhan – who are each all employed by the company.
Audiences were shocked earlier this season with the death of Logan, which then left the door wide open for a range of successors to stake their claim on the company.
After the finale aired on Sky in the United Kingdom on Monday, reviews praised the episode as ‘perfect’.
While some fans are still yet to watch the last episode, others are wondering if this truly is it for the show that has been so beloved by fans and critics alike.
Will there be another season of Succession?

The first season of Succession aired in June 2018, with following seasons coming in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
Over the years it has picked up 148 nominations across awards including the Emmys, Bafta’s and Golden Globe Awards.
Ahead of the fourth season premiere, creator Jesse Armstrong confirmed in February that season would be the last.
‘I got together with a few of my fellow writers before we started the writing of season four, in about November, December, 2021, and I sort of said, “look, I think this maybe should be it. But what do you think?”,’ he recalled when speaking to The New Yorker.
‘And we played out various scenarios: We could do a couple of short seasons, or two more seasons. Or we could go on for ages and turn the show into something rather different, and be a more rangy, freewheeling kind of fun show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks.
‘Or we could do something a bit more muscular and complete, and go out sort of strong. And that was definitely always my preference.’
What about a Succession spin off?

While fans loved to hate the dysfunctional Roy family, it’s already been confirmed there’s not a chance we will get to see them on screen again in any sort of spin-off.
HBO head of drama Francesca Orsi told Deadline this week that there had been ‘some talk’ about spinoffs, but when asked if there were any plans for one, she said ‘no, not at all’.

‘I’ll never say never but my instinct and based on a number of conversations about the evolution of Succession and these characters, at this stage, there is no intention of spinning any one character off,’ she said.
She also said that while she didn’t know what Armstrong is planning to do next, she believed it would be ‘entirely original’.
Succession is available to stream on NOW.
