A student who appeared to be targeted was shot and killed at a high school in Seattle.
The shooting happened shortly before 10am on Tuesday at Ingraham High School on North 135th Street.
It is believed to have been a ‘targeted attack’, according to Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Brent Jones.
The student was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The victim later succumbed to the injures, said Mayor Bruce Harrell.

‘We do not believe this was a random act of violence,’ stated assistant superintendent of public affairs Beverly Redmond.
About an hour after the shooting, a suspect was taken into custody at another location, said Police Chief Adrian Diaz.
A firearm was recovered from the scene. However, authorities did not immediately say whether it was the same weapon used in the shooting.
The identities of the victim and the suspect were not immediately disclosed.

Harrell said: ‘The tragedy impacts not just the family and the students and the faculty and administrators and everyone at Ingraham High School, but threatens the essential trust, that social contract if you will, that we have with all of our communities.’
The campus was placed on lockdown and students were released at noon and reunited with their parents.
After-school activities on Tuesday and classes on Wednesday were canceled.

Witnesses said a male suspect was arrested by a bus stop on Aurora Avenue North close to 145th. The suspect was swarmed by a dozen police officers with semi-automatic rifles and did not resist arrest, witnesses told KIRO 7.
City Council President Debora Juarez in mourning the victim reflected on a visit she made to the high school more than four years ago in an effort to prevent gun violence.
‘Ingraham students have been leaders in calling for the end to gun violence in schools,’ stated Juarez. ‘In March 2018, Ingraham students invited me, the mayor, and legislators to join them in speaking out against gun violence. Their simple message: “Enough.”‘
