Strictly Come Dancing axed an ice-themed performance by the professional dancers from Monday’s results show following the lake tragedy in the West Midlands.
It was confirmed on December 12 that three boys, aged 11, 10, and eight, had died after being pulled from Babbs Mill Lake in Kingshurst in Solihull. A fourth boy, aged six, remains in critical condition in hospital.
It’s understood that Strictly bosses removed the dance, which was filmed on Sunday, from the final edit, with insiders claiming the decision was made in the aftermath of the devastating incident.
Confused fans had taken to Twitter during Monday’s show, which saw Will Mellor eliminated, to ask why there was no performance especially when it had been teased by host Tess Daly during the live show.
Tess had teased a performance that would feature the professionals and judge Craig Revel Horwood.

However, audiences were left baffled when the routine was nowhere to be seen.
One asked: ‘So what happen to the pro dance in #Strictly? Didn’t they tease that Craig was gonna be in it?’
Another quizzed: ‘Where was the pro dance? Didn’t Tess say Craig was going to be involved with it tonight?’
It has now been confirmed by a BBC spokesperson that the group danced was removed ‘in light of tragic news events’.

A source said: ‘Strictly knew they could not air the dance in light of the awful news from Solihull.’
They added to The Sun: ‘Naturally everyone on the show agreed and the decision was made not to air the performance.’
On Tuesday, one of the children who died after falling through thin ice was named locally as Jack Johnson, aged 10.

In a post on social media, Jack’s aunt, Charlotte McIlmurray, described the tragedy as a ‘nightmare’, adding ‘that two families can’t wake from the pain is unimaginable’.
‘He (Jack) was my nephew, so I know the pain is a million times worse for their moms, dads, sisters/brothers,’ she added.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Final will air live on Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
