Stormzy teamed up with chart-topper RAYE to produce their latest pop offering following the success of his recent hit Toxic Trait – and pressed upload on a flirtatious video to go with it.
The London-based hitmakers from ‘the same ends’, proved why they were a pairing the music world needed as they did what they do best on The Weekend, a tune detailing the trials and tribulations of finding the perfect love match.
Teasing listeners with their smooth blend of rap and RAYE’s signature vocals, the Croydon locals effortlessly collaborated on what is sure to be a hit this summer season.
Playing up to their desires, the 29-year-old Vossi Bop artist and 25-year-old much-loved singer both explored potential romantic connections in the slick, seductive video that acted as a visual illustration for their new song.
The Weekend’s mini feature film was shot across a plethora of dark corners in the UK and set the various scenes in a dimly lit studio, heaving club, ruffled bedroom, as well as capturing some coy street encounters.
In behind-the-scenes snaps offered to Metro.co.uk ahead of the footage’s premiere, the Blinded By Your Grace rapper sported a brightly coloured two-piece that was adorned with red and white checkered patterns as he attempted to woo his date in Merky Chicken shop.

He joked with a brunette woman as he showed off his ensemble that he accessorised with a matching bucket hat, white crew socks and some trainers in the same colour.
Other pictures detailed RAYE and Stormzy’s club scenes that were lit by suggestive blue bulbs and rolled as the rapper offered prayer hands to the ceiling while his co-creator lingered in the background.

Their latest attempt at topping the charts came amid the three-time number-one album maker’s comments on writing music as he ages.
He recently explained to Dazed Magazine: ‘There’s a difference between doing music at 22 and when you’re about to turn 30.
