Storm Jocelyn latest: ‘Major travel disruption’ as new storm hits UK
Sky News says The 10th named storm of the season, Storm Jocelyn, has arrived – and is already affecting western parts of the UK, the Met Office has said. Today is expected to be a wet day – before wind speeds start to pick up towards the evening.
There is a good chance this season will be the stormiest since records began in 2015, a meteorological expert has said.
Jocelyn is the 10th named storm this cycle, one behind the highest, 11 in 2015/16, and it has come a month earlier than the 10th one in that record year.
While storms occurring over the next two weeks are expected to edge north of the UK, two were recorded in August last year at the end of the season, said Suzanne Gray, professor of meteorology at the University of Reading.
“So there is still quite a good chance that we could break that record,” she told Sky News.
