The Daily Telegraph reports that Prime Minister and French President Emmanuel Macron will hold talks on whether US President Joe Biden can be persuaded to permit Ukraine to fire Storm Shadow missiles into Russia. The paper says the meeting is a “last-ditch attempt” to stop incoming US president Donald Trump’s effort to scale back US support for Ukraine.

The Guardian reports that talks between Starmer and Macron would “reflect on the close bonds between the two countries, many forged and cemented by the sacrifice of British and French soldiers on the frontline”. The paper notes the prime minister will be in Paris marking Armistice Day with Macron, a show of respect between the two countries.

The Times says the talks between the pair will include addressing Donald Trump’s plans to impose blanket tariffs of up to 20% on imports.

The Daily Mail leads on another domestic story. The paper says Treasury Minister Darren Jones did not confirm that the government will raise defence funding to 2.5% of GDP by the end of the current Parliament. The paper says the Labour government has faced backlash.

The i reports civil servants have warned that government plans to tackle criminal gangs will have no impact on reducing the number of migrants illegally crossing the channel. The paper reports insiders have told them that “nobody” understands how the new Border Security Command will work.
‘Princess Kate returns to royal duties’
The Metro says “Solemn duty” as it leads to Princess Kate’s return to royal duties. The princess appeared at the Cenotaph to mark Remembrance Sunday. The paper also features an image of King Charles at the event.
