Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton agree that their daughter Minnie should be kept out of the spotlight for now but they have contrasting ideas when it comes to her dance future.
The couple aren’t on the sides that you may think they would be. It’s former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin, 40, who wants to keep Minnie off the dance floor despite his own job, but for a caring reason.
‘I don’t want Minnie to dance,’ he confessed in the upcoming documentary Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over: Family and Me.
‘It’s too competitive a world. I would rather she do something else. Anything else.’
While speaking on the W series, OK! reports that Kevin, whose parents and sister Joanna Clifton are also dancers, added that he’s fearful she’ll base her ‘sense of self-worth’ on the sport.
Stacey, 36, who won the BBC show with Kevin as her partner, disagrees and believes Minnie will have natural talent.

‘I think she’s going to have rhythm because, of course, Kev can dance. I would love her to dance,’ Stacey explained.
During the episode, viewers only see the back of Minnie’s head and this was a conscious decision by her parents.
‘Me and Kev have had various conversations, you know – do we show Minnie?’ she explained.
‘I want her to be able to give genuine consent. She’s not going to be in the limelight.’

In the Sleeps Over series, which began airing in 2019, Stacey usually spends time at other family’s homes.
We’ve witnessed her interact with many different people including a cage-fighting teenager, a child model, a YouTuber family and a trad wife.
Now, Stacey will be allowing the cameras to focus on her own family. In the most personal episode yet, she’ll be reflecting on how her new status as mum has changed her perspective on the parents she’s previously spent time with.

‘I can’t sit here and say I was ever deeply obsessed with the idea of being a mum,’ she admitted.
‘But it’s bonkers. I sound so cheesy, but you’re so in love and my entire psyche just changed when I found out I was pregnant. And when they arrive, it’s next level.’
She also revealed the first few days were chaos, and that they didn’t know what they were doing.
‘Absolute carnage. [Minnie]’s just screaming. We’d been up for three nights straight!’ she recalled.
Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over: Family And Me airs on Thursday 3 August, 10pm, W
