May 2023 has seen a total of three bank holidays – a rare treat and a welcome break for many.
While we normally see two bank holidays in May – the May Day bank holiday is the first Monday in May and the Spring Bank Holiday is the last – we got an additional one thanks to the coronation of King Charles.
Many like to spend bank holidays at home – catching up on Netflix shows or enjoying the warmer weather in the garden – but others might want to catch up with friends or family or visit somewhere they’ve always wanted to go.
So, can you still get around on public transport this Monday (May 29), or will bank holiday see disruption to the buses and trains?

The less-good news is that your regular Monday buses might be disrupted. While public transport, like buses, do run on national holidays, many of them operate a reduced service.
For buses, Metro.co.uk have checked major bus operators, including Aviva, First Bus and Stagecoach, and they all have posted updates on their websites or social media indicating that a Sunday service will be operating on Monday, May 29.
For Transport for London (TfL), Sunday services will also run on buses throughout the capital – with a normal Monday night service on night buses.
TfL have also announced that some bus routes won’t be running at all on Monday, May 29.
These routes are: 327, 346, 347, 375, 377, 383, 385, 389, 399, 424, 467, 470, 497, 549, H3, K4, K5, R2, R5, R8, R10, S3, S4, U10 and X68.

Trainline confirm that trains will be running over the Late May Bank Holiday Weekend (also known as the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend) from Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29.
