Emma Raducanu wins to reach second round on US Open debut and prove Wimbledon was no fluke
The i says Emma Raducanu cruised into the second round of the US Open by beating Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland in straight sets.
Raducanu had been due to take on No 13 seed and 2020 semi-finalist Jennifer Brady in the first round but the American was forced to withdraw due to injury.
It meant the British teenager was handed a tie against lucky loser Voegele whose only main draw victory at the US Open came 12 years ago.
