Spanish gunman euthanised before trial
A man in Spain, who was set to face trial for shooting at workmates, has been euthanised in prison.
Marin Eugen Sabau, 46, was paralysed in the police shootout following him opening fire and injuring three colleagues and a cop in the north-eastern city of Tarragona.
He had been shot in the spine and left partially paralysed and had begged to be euthanised rather than face trial.
The courts approved his request despite appeals from the victims.
He had carried out the attack at the company he used to work at in December, he escaped the scene and barricaded himself in a house filled with an arsenal of weapons.
One leg had to be amputated after the shoot out, he was also left paralysed and unable to move. He said his injuries left him in chronic pain and it was ruled he met the requirements to request assisted death.
