No, it’s not 2009 all over again, don’t panic: South Park has taken fresh aim at Kanye West in the first episode of its latest season.
The American animated sitcom, now beginning its 26th season, premiered a new episode over the weekend entitled Cupid Ye.
In the episode, Stan (Trey Parker) becomes jealous that his friend Kyle (Matt Stone) is spending more time with their friend Tolkien (Adrien Beard).
In a bid to win back Kyle’s friendship for Stan, Eric Cartman (also Trey Parker) decides to ‘be a good Christian’ and win Kyle’s friendship once more.
Parodying the antisemistic views espoused by the American rapper in recent months, Eric convinces Tolkien that Kyle controls Hollywood and the news media.
Assisted by his alter ego Cupid Me, a character first introduced 10 years ago, Eric adopts hip hop fashion and changes his alter ego’s name to Cupid Ye.

However, things spiral out of control as Cupid Ye completely takes over Eric’s personality. He fires antisemitic arrows at people, and joyrides a car.
In a scene that directly parodies West’s infamous InfoWars interview, Cupid Ye appears in the same black morph suit and thick sports coat.
The day is only saved when Cupid Ye is forced to take his medication and begins to spread love again, rather than hate.

Of course, this isn’t the first time South Park has taken aim at West, 45, with the All of the Lights hitmaker the target of several jibes in the past.
In 2009, one of South Park’s most famous episodes aired, when West was the only person on Earth not to understand a joke about ‘fishsticks’.
Later, in 2013 episode The Hobbit, West sets out to clear his then-wife Kim Kardashian’s name and convince people that she is not, in fact, a Hobbit.

Last month, West was reportedly embroiled in a battery case after grabbing a phone from a woman who was recording him and throwing it to the floor.
West can be seen on camera arguing with the woman who refuses to stop recording him on the grounds that he’s a celebrity.
