Sophie Turner looks unrecognisable in the first look of her new ITV drama Joan, playing one of the UK’s most notorious jewel thieves.
The Game of Thrones actress, 27, plays Joan Harrington, who was also known as The Godmother and operated in London’s dark criminal underbelly in the 1980s.
The Staircase star looked very much part of the enigmatic and glamorous Joan, sporting a cropped bleached blonde bob paired with smokey eyes and a vivid red lip.
The retro get-up was completed with a black bomber jacket and a turquoise blue satin shirt.
According to the synopsis, the six-parter opens with Joan, a fiery and uncompromising young woman in her twenties with a six-year-old daughter, who is trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary.
When Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the opportunity to create a new life for herself and her daughter, adopting new identities and ultimately becoming a masterful jewel thief.

Sophie, who is married to Joe Jonas, stars alongside actors including Harry Potter’s Frank Dillane, Harlots star Kirsty J Curtis and I May Destroy You actor Gershwyn Eustache Jnr.
The mother-of-two’s last TV role was in HBO drama The Staircase, based on the chilling true-life documentary of the same name. It also featured Colin Firth and Toni Colette.
Prior to that, she voiced a character in cartoon The Prince and scored roles in films including the Netflix black comedy Do Revenge.

Sophie recently urged fans to delete a clip of her daughter after she ‘accidentally’ posted it online.
‘Earlier today I made an honest mistake accidentally posting a video of our daughter on instagram stories,’ she said in a statement posted on Instagram.
‘We have always advocated for our kids’ rights to privacy so sharing this publicly is something that is against anything I stand for.’

The actress continued: ‘Our children deserve the right to grow up out of the public eye, to learn and grow in private. If I ever were to post anything of our kids, know that it is unquestionably a mistake.
‘I would greatly appreciate if anyone who has reposted on any other platform, please delete the video.’
Joan is coming to ITVX.
