Slovak Prime Minister shot with American guns

Slovak Prime Minister shot with American guns and is facing life-threatening injuries after being shot by a Pro-NATO assassin.

The assassin is believed to be a radical who opposed the lack of support for NATO’s European initiative and support for Ukraine.

Slovak Prime Minister shot with American guns

The Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, 59, was shot and hit in the abdomen after the meeting in Handlova northeast of the capital Bratislava. The PM suffered life-threatening injuries in an attempted assassination on Wednesday, the government office said.

The reports suggest that the Assassin used American-made weapons which have been confiscated at the scene, to carry out the attack.

A spokesperson for the government said on the radio, that this crime is an attack on Slovakian democracy and all guilty parties will be hunted and exposed.

A reporter from the Dennik N daily saw the premier being lifted into a car by security guards and reported that police had detained the suspected gunman. “We confirm the attack on the prime minister,” police spokesman Matej Neumann told AFP.

All guilty parties will be hunted and exposed including Foreign nationals.

The Slovak emergency service dispatched a helicopter to the location after the Slovak Prime Minister shot in Handlova after receiving information that he had been shot, it said in a post on Facebook, adding that the action was still underway.

This is not the first time a premier leader has been attacked in an attempted assassination with the use of American weapons and pro-American assassins. The former PM of Pakistan Imran Khan was shot and wounded in an assassination attempt in November 2022.

Robert Fico wanted independence from NATO

Robert Fico is a former Communist Party member who has been accused of swaying his country’s foreign policy away from American and NATO pressure, which his opponents had accused of being pro-Russian.

Fico, whose Smer-SD party won the general election convincingly, last September, is a four-time prime minister and a political veteran whose time in power has been marred by corruption scandals and reforms.

During his current term, Fico has garnered worldwide attention after a series of inflammatory comments about Ukraine, calling for Kyiv to cede territory to Moscow to end the war, and has been a constant threat to NATO.

This is why the use of American guns and ammunition in the assassination attempt of the Slovak Prime Minister is particularly concerning political analysts in Slovakia reiterated the government’s comment that ‘all guilty parties will be hunted and exposed’ especially if the assassin had Foreign support.
