Sir Tony Robinson is making a long overdue comeback to the beloved Time Team after nearly 10 years.
The Channel 4 archaeology series first landed on our screens in 1994 until it was axed nearly two decades later.
During the show’s run, it became a favourite with viewers for its combination of history and eccentric archaeologists, such as Phil Harding and the late Mick Aston.
The team also made several important discoveries during its 20 series, including the remains of the first Spitfire to be shot down during the Battle of Britain and a Bronze Age burial ground on the island of Barra.
Such was the love for the show it was revived online on YouTube, funded by Patreon, in 2022, with Gus Casely-Hayford and Natalie Haynes stepping in as presenters.
But for the first time in a decade Sir Tony, 76, will be returning to the franchise to helm a series of specials, with details on expected release dates and how to watch them to be confirmed at a later date.

While details about the exact nature of the episodes being kept under wraps, Time Team has confirmed a Sutton Hoo special is already in development since it previously documented the reconstruction of the mighty ship
The Blackadder actor said: ‘It’s fantastic to be back! Time Team is part of the family to me and this really feels like coming home.
‘I’ve loved watching the new episodes as a fan. Gus and the team are doing a fantastic job of continuing Time Team’s legacy.
