Sir Elton John has expressed how much he’s going to ‘miss’ his fans after his touring days have come to an end, admitting that he’s still ‘trying to process’ the milestone.
At the weekend, the Rocketman – who recently wowed Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in one of the music festival’s most epic headline sets ever – brought his 330-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to an end in Sweden.
The 76-year-old addressed the crowds on the night, telling them: ‘You have no idea how much that means to me,’ while reminiscing on performing his first ever show in Sweden in 1971, more than 50 years ago.
In a new post shared on Instagram, he showered his dedicated fans with love yet again, recalling when he set off on the final tour of his career five years ago before it finally drew to a close.
The iconic musician shared a video compilation from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, set to the tune of his song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and featuring clips of him performing, his band on stage, concertgoers watching adoringly and several fans dressed in some of his most recognisable outfits.
‘When we set off on my final tour in 2018, I couldn’t have foreseen in my wildest dreams the twists and turns and the highs and lows this tour – and the whole world – would have experienced in the next 5 years,’ he wrote in his caption.

‘And every step of the way, my fans have been there. You have stuck with me, you have supported me, you have been patient and you have kept turning out for every single last show.’
Sir Elton said that Saturday night, when he performed his final show of the tour, was ‘magical’.
‘I’m trying to process it and I don’t think it will sink in for a while yet that I’m finally finished touring,’ he added.
‘I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss you all and how much your support has humbled me – it will stay with me forever.’
Five years ago, Sir Elton announced his intention to finish his days on the road touring.
He stressed that his ‘priorities’ had ‘changed’, outlining that the sons that he shares with his husband David Furnish, Elijah and Zachary, had changed their lives.
While he admitted how much he’s going to miss touring, David recently told Metro.co.uk that they were both ‘jubilant’ over embarking on the next chapter of their lives with their children.

‘It’s hard. I really miss him. The boys really miss him. He really misses us. He’s had enough of that. We’ve had enough of that. Now it’s time to spend more time together as a family,’ David said.
‘We could not be happier and more excited about it, and a lot of people would say like, “Oh, you must be really emotional”, but at the end of the tour, he and I both sit at the table and go, “We can’t wait to be a family”.’
He added: ‘Elton says, “I’ve done this my whole life. I have loved every minute of it”. He loves his time on stage. He’s super grateful but he doesn’t need any more. Our boys are 10 and 12, they really need us more and more.
‘To be able to do that is more satisfying, more joyful, more fulfilling and having that opportunity to co-parent those children brings us endless happiness, joy and satisfaction.’
