Sinéad O’Connor posted a heartbreaking video talking about her son’s suicide, just days before her death aged 56.
The Irish singer’s death was confirmed on Tuesday by her family, with tributes pouring in, including from Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who said: ‘Really sorry to hear of the passing of Sinead O’Connor.
‘Her music was loved around the world and her talent was unmatched and beyond compare.’
Her cause of death has not yet been announced.
Throughout her career, after being propelled to fame in 1990 with Nothing Compares 2 U, she raised awareness and spoke openly about her religious journey, activism and mental health struggles.
She took a break from performing last year due to grieving over the death of her son Shane, aged 17.
His body was recovered in Wicklow after he was reported missing, with O’Connor saying at the time: ‘My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
‘May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.’

Just days before her death, on July 9, she posted a video sharing what is presumed to be the last footage of her ever released.
In it, she began by confirming it was in fact her, as she ‘proved’ her identity from followers saying they didn’t ‘believe’ it was her account.
She said: ‘I look like s**t either way, which is why I didn’t want to make a video.
‘But youknow the way, your kid unfortunately passing away, it isn’t good for one’s body or soul.
‘But look, let’s not dwell on that.’

She then showed followers her flat and some flowers sent to her by a friend.
‘There’s my new Johnny f**king Cash guitar that I’m going to write some tunes on,’ she added.
‘I hope you’re all happy now,’ she signed off to her fans after ‘proving [her] identity’.
O’Connor posted a photo of her late son in her last ever Twitter message, saying: ‘Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul.
‘We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.’
