Simon Cowell revealed he once turned down the chance to host his own TV show as the thought of ‘chatting all day’ stressed him out.
The 63-year-old music mogul has appeared as a judge on The X Factor and his Got Talent franchise over the years, but expressed that when he was given the opportunity to present his own chat show.
However, the thought of taking centre stage ‘really stressed’ the TV personality out.
‘I was offered one once and literally I got to the point where they built the set and I started to get anxious and then really stressed out,’ he said.
‘I just walked out of the meeting and I said “I literally couldn’t do this.”
He continued: ‘I just couldn’t talk to people all day long. I’m not very good at talking.’

The record executive confirmed his engagement with Lauren Silverman during a holiday to Barbados in December 2021, with it previously being reported they would head down the aisle this year.
But Simon – who shares son Eric, eight, with Lauren – has now given an update on his wedding plans, insisting that actually, he doesn’t have any.
Speaking to The Sun, the Britain’s Got Talent judge said: ‘I like to make everything spontaneous, and doing that will make it a lot more fun.

‘I don’t think we’ll be getting married in Las Vegas, but whatever we do will definitely be fun.’
During an appearance on Loose Women in December 2022, Simon was awfully cagey when asked about the upcoming nuptials.
When asked by panelist Jane Moore: ‘How is the wedding planning going?’ he at first only laughed.
Then, speaking via video link from somewhere sunny, he said simply: ‘Still planning.’

Speaking previously about why he decided to propose after over nine years with Lauren, Simon told The Sun: ‘We were in the same house for over a year and I thought, “Well, actually, we get on really, really well”.
‘And for Eric, as he gets older, he will be asked more and more about his parents, and I thought it was the right thing to do for him. I also just couldn’t see myself ever dating anyone again. The idea of going out on a first date now is too weird.’
He continued: ‘My mum and dad had an amazing marriage and I used to call them best friends, and I think that’s a big part of it.’
