Silent Witness stars Emilia Fox and David Caves are keeping everything crossed that their on-screen relationship lasts as the long-running BBC drama continues through series 26.
The actors, who play Dr Nikki Alexander and Dr Jack Hodgson, joined The One Show on Monday night where they discussed the couple’s future together and explained why their characters came together in the first place.
Of course, fans will remember how Nikki and Jack finally spent the night together in series 25 after years of flirting.
Presenter Alex Jones was curious about the longevity of the romance and wasted no time in asking whether it will last as she sat down with the pair on the red sofa.
‘It’s the great debate, isn’t it?’ Emilia replied, to which David added: ‘Well, we hope so.’
‘I think what we wanted to do was show how a friendship moves into a relationship and how that changes their interactions with one another,’ Emilia continued of their storyline.

She went on to say: ‘As we saw in the first story, they are each other’s strengths but also they are each other’s vulnerability because they love each other so much so anything that happens to the other which isn’t good, the other one feels.’
‘It raises the stakes a lot,’ David agreed.
Silent Witness is set to continue on Monday night with episode three of the new series.
Titled ‘Familiar Faces’ part one, the official synopsis reads: ‘An abandoned lorry is found at a quarry with several dead and dying people in the back.
