Major search underway in Colombia for Luis Diaz’s kidnapped father
A major search in Colombia is underway after the parents of Liverpool footballer Luis Diaz were kidnapped.
Diaz’s mother was found in Barrancas on Saturday. His father remains captive.
Military and police are searching for his father and are offering a £40,00 reward for information leading to his rescue.
More than 120 soldiers and police searched northern Colombia for Luis Manuel Diaz on Sunday, with reports armed men had taken him and his wife.
In a statement, the army said it had set up roadblocks and deployed two motorised platoons, unmanned aircraft, helicopters and a plane with radar in the search for his father.
No details about the kidnapping have been released by Colombian authorities but it’s understood that Diaz’s mother and father were taken by armed men on motorcycles at a gas station in Barrancas.
